  • In a Habitat, a colony carved out of an asteriod, a husband and wife are found murdered, the bodies horribly hacked about. But the room was locked from the inside, and when security break the door down, the room is empty.

    A traditional Whodunit, in a non-traditonal setting.

Four days ago somebody pressed the emergency alarm button in that apartment. Habitat Control tried to ring them. The phone was picked up, but all we heard was a woman screaming, then silence. When we got there the door was closed, electronic lock and the internal bolt both locking it shut from the inside. It took us several minutes to override the electronic lock, and break down the internal bolt.
I and one of my officers were the first ones in. We found Peter and Mei Ling dead in the middle of the floor. Peter seems to have fallen on top, perhaps to protect Mei Ling, and someone had hacked off his arms and his left leg. And on top of the bodies was a note, (WITH DISTASTE) this note.

Thank you (READS IT) "Outsiders Out. No Outsider whores, No destructive technology". Not quite rural staid! I presume we'll come back to this. Please continue. You searched the apartment?

Of course, thoroughly. We checked all the alcoves, all the cupboards.. There was no-one else there, no-one..
