Some time on the near future a mutated virus has wiped out 99.99 % of the population.

Years later a small communityof survivors has grown up in a network of small farms clustered around an old manor house south of Chester.

Tonight is a double celebration. It’s the start of another new settlement, and the wedding of the two people chosen to lead it.

But in the morning there is a shocking discovery in one of the outhouses, the corpse of a young woman, murdered, and she is a stranger.

Who is the dead woman, and why should anyone want to kill a complete stranger anyway.
