I was going to do one, but I had an emergency request to do a bit of website work asap.
There may not be one tomorrow either, we are going down to Warwick Castle for the day. We leave Friday night late, sleep over at Frankley Services, then get there for 10am opening.
It’s what used to belong to Warwick the Kingmaker as he was called. What he wanted was to be King of England. As he didn’t have any valid claim to the throne this was a bit tricky, although it didn’t seem to bother Harry Tudur aka Henry VII and he wasn’t even English.
But Warwick decided he would settle for his grandson on the throne and his strategy was simple. He had the biggest army, and a pair of spare daughters. (Well most daughters were spare, except for the obvious feminine skills of being married off as part of cementing alliances and having babies.)
So the price was simple. There’s a civil war on between 2 claimants to the throne, so whoever marries a daughter gets my backing and my big army to support their side.
It worked for a while, then he got deaded. They played hard, like Game of Thrones, but without the moral integrity or the gentle peaceful bits.
Anyway it’s what we’ll be doing Saturday. And I’ll try not to get into any dynastic struggles.
