It’s finally happened. My scalp was itching last night and this morning I found hairs were coming loose. It’s not that many yet, but it’s clearly going to happen.  This will produce some rejoicing I am sorry to say.  “But why?” , do I hear you ask.  I will explain.

Firstly my sons are all more or less follically challenged.  My hair is not just dense, it’s not even grey.  This is a longstanding source of annoyance to them.  They will be glad.

But worse than that, my beloved daughter-in-law, the Secret Redhead, has announced that she is going to shave the lot off (I, as usual, get no voice in this). To add to the insult she is going to bring in daughterly help.

Hopefully this just means the Cheerleader, the rational for this assault on my manly dignity being that it would scare her to see her Taid suddenly with a bald head, unless she has a hand in doing the dread act.  I call it corrupting a sweet innocent 5-year-old.  It could be worse, she might bring the elder daughter, the Beautician in on the crime.

I expect the dread deed any time after next weekend.

This is a bad day to be a man.
